INTER Milan president Massimo Moratti has rubbished reports that Adriano's early return to Brazil signals the end of the striker's Serie A adventure.
Adriano, who has suffered a troubled time of late at the San Siro, went back to his homeland with over a week left before the winter break - sparking speculation that Inter fans had seen the last of the Brazilian.
However, Moratti insists there is no problem between the club and Adriano.
"He has a muscle problem and it is right and normal to send him to his own home," he told Sky Italia. "He will not be loaned out to any Brazilian club.
"There's no controversy. Adriano will return.
"Adriano has this injury that will impede him from playing next Sunday so it is better that he goes home early.
"There is no controversy, simply something practical.
"Now he will be at his own house. After the holidays he will return to Milan and act in a way so that he can return to what he was at one point.
"I honestly believe that there is no controversy behind his trip. I repeat, it is only better that he returns home early as he is not able to play."
On Friday Inter were forced to release a statement vehemently denying reports that Adriano was sent home from the previous day's training session by coach Jose Mourinho after turning up under the influence of alcohol.
It is the latest in a long line of controversies to hit the 26-year-old who was left out of the team for five games earlier this season after a disagreement with Mourinho.
Last season, he spent six months on loan at Sao Paulo after suffering from personal problems.
Inter coach Jose Mourinho was less certain of Adriano's future when he spoke following the Nerazzurri's 4-2 defeat of Chievo this afternoon.
"Adriano is out injured," said Mourinho ."It's easier to recover in a hot climate and away from controversy.
"But if I was in his shoes, I would really think about either staying here, where he has a certain reputation, or leaving.
"Nevertheless, I expect him at the club on January 2."
