EXCLUSIVE: Jets insiders say Wellington's Ahmad Elrich could join his brother Tarek at Newcastle Jets next season.
“He's thinking about it,” one Jets source told au.fourfourtwo.com.
Ahmad, the older brother of Jets star Tarek, attended tonight's preliminary final in Newcastle.
He is currently on annual leave from Wellington Phoenix – who he signed for earlier in the season as a marquee player.
Despite scoring one of the goals of the season, Elrich's future at Phoenix is under a cloud after a less than stellar season. He signed from English premiership club Fulham.
According to the Phoenix, decisions on the futures of four players on one-year contracts – captain Ross Aloisi, marquee signing Elrich, Vince Lia and Felipe – as well as short-term replacement Kristian Rees will not be made till the squad returns from annual leave on March 3.
