In an entertaining match, Al Wahda took the lead through Haidar Alo Ali before Frank Ongfiang levelled the scores at the end of the first half.

Al Wahda regained the lead through Mohamed Saeed Al Shehi, but Al Ain's Iraqi striker Hawar Mulla Mohammed once more restored parity.

However, substitute Norberto Mauro Maurito scored a last-minute header to give Al Wahda a valuable win which puts them back at the summit.

Al Wahda made the better start and almost opened the scoring after only five minutes when Ismail Matar whipped in a cross to French striker Mamadou Bagayoko, who put his header wide.

But they did break the deadlock after 24 minutes. Bagayoko had a powerful shot blocked by Al Ain goalkeeper Mutaz Al Abdulla and Alo Ali scored on the rebound.

Al Ain responded though and were awarded a penalty five minutes before the interval when Ali Al Wehaibi was brought down inside the area by goalkeeper Shaiban Saleh.

Saleh managed to save Mohammed's spot-kick but the referee ordered it to be re-taken much to the fury of the Al Wahda players.

Cameroonian Ongfiang stepped up to take the second attempt and made no mistake to bring his side level.

Ongfiang almost added another in the 66th minute but his effort was saved by Saleh.

And it proved costly as Al Wahda scored from the counter-attack, with Al Shehi heading home a cross from Ismail Matar.

Al Ain looked to have snatched a point when Mohammed headed in an Abdulla Ali assist a minute before the whistle.

But their celebrations were short-lived with Maurito powering home in stoppage time to steal the win for Al Wahda.
