A brace from Edmond Kapllani added to Ervin Skela's opener sent Otto Baric's team to a second victory in four days over their opponents, following Saturday's 2-0 triumph in Tirana.

The three points moved them above Belarus on to a credible nine points, five behind Holland in third, with Romania leading the way on 17.

It was one-way traffic at the Josy Barthel stadium from the start with a goalmouth melee in the fourth minute setting the tone.

An initial shot from the edge of the penalty area by Erjon Bogdani was only half-cleared by Jonathan Joubert in the Luxembourg goal and rebound shots by Kapllani and Alban Bushi caused further scrambling by goalkeeper and defenders before a deflection helped avert the danger.

Skela and Bogdani posed a constant threat and saw chances spurned at will, while Joubert had no time to breathe as he was kept busy for most of the opening 25 minutes.

The breakthrough eventually came when a well hit shot from Skela from the edge of the penalty area flew low into the left corner giving Joubert no chance.

Luxembourg responded with a Daniel Collette shot which was straight at Arjan Beqaj, before the lead was doubled in the 36th minute.

Bushi's searching cross from the left was met by a well-timed header from Kapllani in the centre of the penalty area for an impressive finish.

Collette again tested Beqaj immediately after the restart, his swaying 30-yard drive fumbled before being gathered at the second attempt.

Lorik Cana then struck the bar with a perfectly delivered 25-yard free-kick, before Karlsruhe striker Kapllani netted his second, and third in two games.

Besart Berisha's low pass from the left was drilled home from close range by Kapllani to seal the win.
