Allianz Stadium will host the 2017 FFA Cup Final between Sydney FC and Adelaide United.
FFA confirmed on Thursday that Allianz was chosen as the venue due to a number of varying factors.
Even without a Sydney Derby final, FFA were keen to play the match in NSW for the first time in the competition's short history.
The game will take place on Tuesday, 21 November.
“FFA would like to congratulate both Sydney FC and Adelaide United for reaching the Westfield FFA Cup Final for a second time,” said FFA chief executive David Gallop. “Both teams have performed strongly in this year’s competition and deserve to be in the Final.”
“In 2017 the Westfield FFA Cup Final will be played in New South Wales for the first time, after South Australia (2014) and Victoria (2015 & 2016) hosted the first three editions of the competition’s deciding fixture.
“FFA considered a range of factors in deciding between Adelaide and Sydney. It is important that, where possible, the Westfield FFA Cup Final is played in different locations around Australia to showcase the truly national nature of the competition. FFA is hoping to break the Westfield FFA Cup Final attendance record by beating last year’s number achieved in Melbourne.
“After weighing it all up and particularly considering the Hyundai A-League commitments and fixtures of both clubs around the Final date, we decided on this occasion that the game should be played in Sydney.
“Adelaide United play Central Coast Mariners in the Hyundai A-League on Thursday 16 November, while Sydney play on Saturday 18 November which is only three days before the Westfield FFA Cup Final. Adelaide United and Sydney FC will also meet again in the Hyundai A-League in Adelaide just 10 days after the Westfield Cup Final,” concluded Gallop.
