Money will be the deciding factor in Cole’s possible move to Australia, according to his current boss.
Queensland Roar has again been linked with Andy Cole by British press. England’s mirror.co.uk has reported that Queensland has already tried unsuccessfully to lure the former Manchester United star to Suncorp Stadium and quotes Birmingham boss Steve Bruce as saying, "Only Andy will decide, but it all comes down to wages."
Cole is currently still a Birmingham City player however he is on-loan to Portsmouth for the remainder of the Premiership season.
Additionally, Frank Farina will need to free up room on his playing roster for the FFA to approve any move for Cole should one be successful. Queensland already has four “foreign” players on their books in Hyuk-Su Seo (Roar), Simon Lynch (Scotland), Reinaldo (Brazil) and Marcus Wedau (Germany).
Farina has stated publicly he intends to sign at least two more players before the A-League season begins again in late August. It is believed he will focus his attentions on midfield and defensive players, should his bid for a big-name player such as Cole prove unsuccessful.
In the 2006/07 season Queensland scored 25 goals and conceded 27, narrowly missing out on a place in the Finals Series.
