Jedinak, 32, was spotted arriving at Villa Park on Tuesday ahead of an expected £4 million move to the recently relegated Villans.

The Australia skipper lost the Palace captaincy earlier this month and appeared to farewell the club’s fans at Selhurst Park when throwing his shirt into the crowd after Saturday’s 1-0 loss to West Bromwich.

Postecoglou backed the switch for the midfielder who only managed 16 league starts with Palace last term but did play the full 90 minutes against West Bromwich.

“The major thing is that players are always happier when they’re settled rather than when there’s a bit of indecision or conjecture about their futures,” Postecoglou said.

“With Mile in particular, if it does come to fruition and he moves to Villa, at least he’ll be in a good place mentally.”

Jedinak was on Wednesday named as part of Postecoglou’s 23-man squad for Australia’s opening two final round 2018 World Cup qualifiers which start early next month.

“He knows where he’ll be playing his football and it certainly won’t affect him in any way,” Postecoglou said.

“He’s an outstanding leader. He’s been fantastic for us. I made him skipper and I think he’ll come in feeling pretty good about things.

“It’s probably the uncertainty which is more of a concern for me whether it’s him or any other players.

“Once they make a decision about where they’re going to be, they’re fairly settled when they come into camp.”

One of Jedinak’s potential future team-mates at Villa, Australian Jordan Lyden, told the Birmingham Mail he was excited by the prospect of linking up with his compatriot.

"We had a chat and Mile seems like a terrific guy and to have a player of his calibre and quality is a massive boost for us, because the aim is to go straight back up and he can certainly help us do that," Lyden said.

It is understood, Jedinak underwent a medical at Villa on Tuesday but the club are still working through the visa process as confirmed by chairman Tony Xia on Twitter.
