BRISBANE Roar boss Ange Postecoglou believes Saturday's 1-0 triumph over Sydney FC is something for the fans who can retain a glimmer of hope of finals football.
Postecoglou's side claimed the victory courtesy of a last-minute Sergio van Dijk goal, despite Sydney FC dominating proceedings.
The win means the Roar move to within three points of sixth-placed Perth Glory, in the final playoffs spot, who play tomorrow.
"Obviously we've been through a pretty tough season, for players, staff and fans,"Â Postecoglou said.
"I was pretty keen to give them something this year, and it keeps our finals hopes alive as well.
"To come away with the three points on such a big night for the club. I was pretty pleased."
Postecoglou was reluctant to single out star performers, but admitted goalkeeper Matthew Ham was impressive as Sydney dominated the shots on goal statistics.
"Get out the headline writers out, ‘Ham saves our bacon'," he joked.
"But we had a plan as to how we were going to stop them and the boys responded magnificently.
"They did just about everything right."
