The club today confirmed they had dropped Angulo and Football Superstar Luke Pilkington from next season's squad despite recent reports in the Costa Rican press that a new loan deal had been agreed.

Angulo, 24, failed to settle at Victory and put in a series of inconsistent performances that sometimes showed flashes of brilliance but all too often disappointed.

Despite his Costa Rican team-mate Carlos Hernandez at his side, Angulo didn't live up to the high expectations and has now returned to his Tico club, CS Herediano after two seasons in Melbourne.

Luke Pilkington, 20, won his place at Victory through the Fox8 TV series Football Superstar when he impressed former coach Ernie Merrick enough to earn a youth team contract.

Although he made a handful of senior appearances, Victory - currently without a coach or director of football - have now deemed him surplus to requirements for next season.

Meanwhile former Socceroo keeper Petkovic has hung up his gloves after a poor season between the sticks with Victory.

Petkovic, 34, arrived in Melbourne after a successful career in Europe where he was a safe pair of hands for Turkish Super Lig side Sivasspor.

But he struggled in the A-League and took the blame for several goals conceded by Victory last season.

Today Victory confirmed the exits and added: "The club thanks Michael, Marvin and Luke for their contribution and wishes them every success in the future."
