The 32-year-old former Socceroo was expected to slot straight back into the Glory side after his loan with Chinese Super League club Liaoning Whowin expired on January 1 but red tape is holding him back again as Perth await his International Transfer Certificate.

A transfer oversight led to Coyne's loan extension at Liaoning earlier this season ruling him out of over two-thirds of Perth's season, so the latest setback is frustrating for the club.

In fact, Coyne may be unavailable for Perth's clash with Brisbane Roar next Friday, with Glory interim coach Ian Ferguson revealing no timeframe was given on when they can expect a resolution.

"His ITC (International Transfer Certificate) has not cleared yet, we're still having problems with that, hopefully he will be cleared in the next few days," Ferguson said.

"It's all up to the ITC being cleared, and if it has, then he'll be brought up (for the Brisbane game), but at the moment he's not travelling with us because it could take a minute, it could take hours, it could take weeks.

"We knew the official window doesn't open until the first of January, so there's a few (players waiting) there's a system there and we have to wait in that system until he clears, so it wasn't a surprise."
