Argentina coach Alfio Basile is hoping to make 'as few mistakes as possible' in the selection of his Copa America squad.
Argentina will face Chile on Wednesday in a friendly in Mendoza but Basile is already thinking ahead to the Copa America, which kick offs on June 26 in Venezuela, with Argentina facing the United States, Colombia and Paraguay in Group C.
"I want to build the best team possible with the players in Europe and the players based here (in the Argentinian league)," said Basile to reporters after a training session on Monday.
"After this match, I will travel to Europe to meet with players and I will try to make as few mistakes as possible with the Copa America roster."
The Argentina coach believes that the Andean derby will provide a good test for the home-based players on both teams.
"Both Chile and ourselves are in the process of building our teams. Chile will also be using mainly home-based players.
"We will try to play football the way I like it to be played. It will be an important game for (Chile coach) Nelson Acosta and myself to see these players in action ahead of the Copa America."
Veteran Juan Sebastian Veron has a muscle injury and will miss out on playing in his first international match since November 2003.
"He was very disappointed," Basile admitted. "It is a pity that he is unable to play because he has been part of all of the training and was really looking forward to the game.
"However, he was not in good shape to play and we have to take care of him."
