Basile's side impressed at the recent Copa America in Venezuela but were left severely depleted by an injury to Hernan Crespo in the group stages, making do with the likes of Diego Milito and Rodrigo Palacio before being beaten by Brazil in the tournament final.

And the veteran coach admits, while his country are blessed with numerous diminutive playmakers, there is a dearth of talent in Crespo's position.

"We have a lot of wingers, but we have few box strikers. There aren't enough leaders in there.

"If we play with two 1.68metre-strikers when the rival's defenders move back in the field we have a lot of difficulties," he told Energy radio network.

Basile, who often names squads consisting largely of Argentina-based players, is happy with his scouting system.

"Somebody always travels. If I don't go one of my assistants do. I have reporters there and in the AFA (Argentinian Football Association) we have a system to watch all the games."

Basile also hopes to see playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme play for Boca Juniors long-term.

"If he plays here is much better. Roman is the kind of 'number 10' that I want in my team," said Basile.

"If you put another player in his position he will not respond as the way he does. He is a strategist with the virtue of leaving the striker near the goal."
