FC Twente forward Marko Arnautovic is facing an uncertain future after his dream move to Inter Milan fell through.
The Austria international's switch to the San Siro collapsed due to a foot injury he sustained in the KNVB Beker final on May 17.
The two clubs are believed to have reached an agreement for the 20-year-old to move to Italy in the winter break, but his agent claims the player does not want to return to Enschede - despite having a contract with the Dutch club until June 2011.
"It's not what he prefers," agent Rob Groener told newspaper TC/Tubantia.
"Marko already closed the FC Twente chapter in his head. So we will have to sit around the table again with FC Twente to find a solution."
Groener does not think it would be wise for Arnautovic to join Inter in January.
He added: "The fact is that a young player shouldn't change clubs in the middle of a season.
"As a player you need a preparation of six to seven weeks to get accustomed to the new environment.
"And no-one can look into the future. A lot can happen between now and winter."
