Roda JC 7 Heracles Almelo 0
KERKRADE, April 29 (Eredivisie) - Roda JC fell just short of the play-off places for Champions League qualification despite finishing the regular season in style with a record-breaking win over hapless Heracles Almelo at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion on Sunday.
The home side signed off with a 7-0 victory, the biggest in their history, after two goals from Andres Oper and one apiece from Sekou Cisse, Eddy Bosnar (own goal), Kemy Agustien, Jamaique Vandamme and Boldiszar Bodor blew their opponents away.
But Roda came up a point short of fifth-place after Heerenveen hammered Feyernoord 5-1 to leave them to settle for the UEFA Cup play-offs.
The hosts were 3-0 up at the break, but it was not until the 13th minute that they broke the deadlock, Oper slotting the ball home from seven yards.
Ivory Coast striker Cisse found the bottom right corner to double Roda's lead 10 minutes later, while Heracles, their Eredivise status secure, contributed to their own downfall on the stoke of half time when substitute Bosnar put into his own net.
The second half continued in the same vein and Augustien fired home Bas Sibum's cross from the edge of the area to make it four after 53 minutes.
And the midfield player turned provider two minutes later, setting up Vandamme to score from wide on the right with a shot inside the far post.
Just after the hour mark, Bodor volleyed home Vandamme's superb left-wing cross before Oper met Ger Senden's cross to round off the rout from close range with two minutes remaining.
