The Filipino-Australians will compete in the 2017 AFC Cup with Ceres-Negros finishing second in the 2016 United Football League.

Grommen’s CV includes two seasons for QAS (Queensland Academy of Sport) and Brisbane Roar’s NYL and NPL sides.

He also had brief stints with Filipino sides Loyola Meralco Sparks and Stallion FC before being signed by Ceres-Negros.

Ceres-Negros has eight current national team players including Perth-born Filipino Ramsay.

Ramsay, who began his youth career with Sydney FC enjoyed five years in the A-League, made 78 appearances for Adelaide United and 46 games for glamour club Melbourne City.

Grommen is also part of the Philippines U-23 side and was invited to take part in the past two national team training camps.

Ceres-Negros has drawn Group G of the AFC Cup and will face Singaporean side Tampines Rovers, Vietnamese League champions Hanoi T&T and Malaysian Super League runners-up Felda United which will begin in February.

The influence of Australian involvement in the Philippines is increasing. Notably Queensland pair Julian Matthews and current reserve Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Matthew Acton were both teammates with United Football League side Kaya last season.
