AUSSIE Magpie James Troisi cannot wait to start work alongside Newcastle new boy Mark Viduka and is tipping him to be a huge hit on Tyneside.
The 19-year-old striker, who made his senior debut in a recent pre-season victory over Hartlepool United, believes Sam Allardyce has made a smart move in prising the Socceroo’s skipper from rivals Middlesbrough.
Viduka’s contract had expired at the Riverside and Newcastle pounced to secure his services for the next two seasons, despite the odd grumble from some fans about signing a player from such a bitter rival.
Still, Troisi isn’t worrying about that. He sees a bright future for Viduka at his new club.
Adelaide-born Troisi, who has just burst into the Olyroos picture, told the United website: “He (Viduka) did brilliantly at Boro last season and it's a great signing.
“Although the Australians aren't as passionate about football as people in England, Viduka is kind of like Alan Shearer was in that the whole country looks up to him.
“Mark is absolutely huge in Australia and I'm sure he'll do what he is coming here to do which is to score goals.
“I've met him before and he's a great guy and I can't wait to play and train alongside him.”
Troisi, who made the Newcastle bench in both the Premiership and Europe last season, said: “I sat on the bench a few times last season but I want to try and get in the first-team this year and I believe in my own ability.”
