In the Chinese Super League, Ryan McGowan played a full game in defence as Shandong Luneng lost ground on league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande following a disappointing 2-1 home loss to Jiangsu Sainty. Shandong were undone on two occasions by the set piece brilliance of Lu Bofei.
 
Matt McKay played a full game in midfield as Changchun Yatai dropped to the bottom of the table following a 1-0 loss to fellow cellar dwellers Tianjin Teda. In a game largely dominated by Tianjin, McKay had some decent attacking moments, setting up Liu Weidong with a precise through-ball in the second half, but the striker failed to beat Yang Qipeng in goal. Erik Paartalu played a full game in midfield for Tianjin.
 
Rostyn Griffiths played a full game as Guangzhou R&F beat Shanghai Shenxin 2-0 as former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson took charge of his first game for Guangzhou. Michael Marrone missed the clash as he continues his recovery from a shin injury.

In South Korea, Robert Cornthwaite was a 67th minute substitute as Chunnam Dragons played out a 0-0 draw with Gangwon FC, who were without Brendan Hamill. Hamill is yet to make an appearance for Gangwon this season after joining the North Eastern club on loan from Seongnam.
