IT WAS an encouraging weekend abroad for our Aussies with several of our next generation impressing. Robbie Kruse started again in Germany, Mat Ryan saved a penalty in Belgium, while Mathew Leckie found the back of the net for FSV Frankfurt.

IT WAS A quiet weekend abroad with standout performances few and far between. Our German-based Socceroos earned rare starts, Adam Sarota continued his recovery from a serious injury, while forgotten midfielder Carl Valeri also returned to his side following a long layoff through injury.

OS AUSSIES: It was a weekend for the forgotten Socceroos with both Adam Sarota and Chris Herd returning to the pitch for the first time since January. Sarota, returning from a serious knee injury, received a standing ovation from the FC Utrecht fans while Herd received a shock call up following months of injuries and lack of opportunities.
