OS AUSSIES: A good performance from Robbie Kruse headlined a relatively positive weekend abroad, as Tommy Oar returned from injury, Tom Rogic saw some more game-time, while the FA Cup dream remained alive for five of our Aussies.
In the English FA Cup, Dean Bouzanis played a full game in goal as giant killing Oldham Athletic earned a replay with Everton, following a 2-2 draw at Boundary Park. Bouzanis was at fault for Everton’s second goal on 48 minutes, as he was unable to make any contact on Kevin Mirallas’ in-swinging corner, leaving a simple header for Everton defender Phil Jagielka to score. Bouzanis redeemed himself somewhat with a low stop from Steven Pienaar’s shot before Oldham equalised with virtually the last play of the game. James Wesolowski played 65 minutes in the clash while Alex Cisak was an unused substitute.
Shane Lowry played 90 minutes as Millwall progressed through to the quarter finals with a 3-0 win over non-league Luton Town, while Seb Usai was an unused substitute as Blackburn Rovers caused an upset, beating Arsenal 1-0.

In League One, Bailey Wright found the back of the net in Preston North End’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth. Wright scored his side’s second goal on 31 minutes, smashing the ball home in a goal-mouth scramble following Nicky Wroe’s free-kick.
In League Two, Shane Cansdell-Sherriff played 90 minutes as Rochdale beat Torquay United 1-0. Aaron Downes started and played 64 minutes for Torquay.

In the Scottish Premier League, Tom Rogic was a 73rd minute substitute as Celtic thumped Dundee United 6-2. In his limited game-time, Rogic had some classy touches and showed signs of his impressive passing range.
Elsewhere, Dylan McGowan was a 37th minute substitute as Hearts lost 3-0 at home to Kilmarnock, a loss which sees them drop to 10th. Alex Baird was an unused substitute as Dundee FC remained bottom with a 1-0 loss to Aberdeen.
In the Scottish Second Division, Marc Warren was missing through suspension as Airdrie United drew 2-2 with Hamilton Academical.
In the German Bundesliga, Robbie Kruse played 89 minutes as Fortuna Dusseldorf beat Greuther Furth 1-0. The winger was fouled 11 times throughout the contest, the first of which came in the opening 2 minutes when Kruse was fouled by Matthias Zimmermann inside the box to win a penalty for Dusseldorf, however Dani Schahin’s penalty was poor and easily gathered by Greuther ‘keeper Wolfgang Hesl. Kruse’s pace and dribbling caused more problems late in the first half, forcing a rash challenge from Jozsef Varga which led to his second yellow card. In a scrappy second half, Kruse had a great chance to put the game to bed but he couldn’t beat the impressive Hesl.
Elsewhere, Mitch Langerak was an unused substitute as Borussia Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0, while Nikita Rukavytsya was absent from the FSV Mainz side that drew 2-2 with Schalke.
In the German Second Division, Mathew Leckie was an 80th minute substitute as FSV Frankfurt beat Energie Cottbus 1-0. Leckie had little impact in his cameo as 10-man Frankfurt threw numbers behind the ball to secure the three points.
In the German Third Division, Mustafa Amini started and played 86 minutes as Borussia Dortmund II lost 1-0 to Karlsruher.
In the Dutch Eredivisie, Tommy Oar returned from injury, playing the final 17 minutes as FC Utrecht lost 2-1 to PSV Eindhoven. Michael Zullo started on the bench but was brought on after just seven minutes following an injury to Dave Bulthuis. Zullo, who has played in an attacking role in recent times, reverted to his more familiar left-back role. Zullo’s inexperience showed with a needless foul on the half hour just outside the box, which was superbly converted by Dries Mertens. Adam Sarota was absent from the match-day squad with a knee injury.
Elsewhere, Jason Davidson was an unused substitute as Heracles drew 1-1 with NAC Breda, while Travis Cooper was absent from the VVV Venlo side that beat NEC Nijmegen 2-1.

In the UAE, Dino Djulbic scored a brace as 10-man Al Wahda beat Al Ittihad 2-1. The big defender scored the game’s opener on 17 minutes, nodding home from a corner following some ordinary marking by the Ittihad defence. Djulbic struck again just before half time with another header from a corner as Djulbic met the ball ahead of Ittihad ‘keeper Mohammed Osman to nod home.
Elsewhere, Richard Porta returned from injury, playing 90 minutes as Dubai were thumped 5-0 by Nick Carle’s Baniyas. Carle was an unused substitute for Baniyas.
