OS AUSSIES: With the all important World Cup qualifiers imminent, Josh Kennedy tuned up for next week’s clash against Japan with a goal, Tim Cahill continued his good form in the US, while Tommy Oar helped FC Utrecht earn a place in next season’s Europa League.

In Holland, Tommy Oar played a full game as FC Utrecht booked their spot in next season’s Europa League competition following 3-2 aggregate victory over FC Twente, despite losing the second leg 2-1. Oar had a busy first half in the contest with his set-pieces and clever passing causing havoc, although he could have done better with a shooting opportunity, scuffing a shot which was saved by Twente ‘keeper Sander Boschker. The former Brisbane Roar winger appeared to tire in the second half with his influence waning as the match went on. Michael Zullo was absent from the match-day squad, while Adam Sarota remained out with a knee injury.

Cahill set up Thierry Henry on 30 minutes with a perfectly weighted lofted pass which the Frenchman ran onto and cleverly lobbed ‘keeper Andy Gruenebaum.
In the J-League, Josh Kennedy found the back of the net for Nagoya Grampus in their 2-1 loss to Cerezo Osaka. Kennedy scored a consolation goal for his side in second half stoppage time with a well directed header from a free-kick beating Osaka ‘keeper Jin Hyeon-Kim at his far post.
In South Korea, Adrian Madaschi was a 77th minute substitute as Jeju United played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with FC Seoul.
