In the FA Cup Mat Ryan's cup final dream faded as his Brighton were narrowly knocked out 1-0 by titans Manchester City. 

In the English Championship Mass Luongo played a full game for QPR in a 4-0 loss to Norwich City. Jackson Irvine played 90 minutes in Hull City's 3-1 victory over Reading. Bailey Wright played a full match for Bristol City as they drew 2-2 with Wigan Athletic. James Meredith played 90 minutes for Millwall in their 2-0 victory over West Brom. In League One Harry Souttar played a full match for Fleetwood Town as they drew 2-2 with Southend United. Cameron Burgess was an unused sub for Scunthorpe United as they drew 1-1 with Shrewsbury. 

In Scotland Mark Milligan played 90 minutes in the fiery Edinburgh Derby for Hibernian as they were victorious 2-1. Oli Bozanic was an unused sub for Hearts on the receiving end of the result. Tom Rogic was back in the groove for Celtic playing 70 minutes in Celtic's frustrating 0-0 draw with Livingston. Jesse Curran and Ryan McGowan both played full matches as Dundee FC lost 2-1 to Aberdeen. 

It was battle of the Aussies in the Scottish Championship as Jack Iredale's Greenock Morton and Lyndon Dykes Queen of the South shared the points in a 1-1 draw with both players finishing 90 minutes. Scott McDonald's Partick Thistle came up against Tom Beadling's Dunfermline Athletic with both players scoring in a 2-2 draw. 

In the English Youth Leagues Tyrese Francois played a full game for Fulham U23 while Joel Rollinson was a second half substitute for Reading U23 as Reading ran out 3-0 winners. Kai Caldebrank Park was on the bench for Burnley U23's in their match against Nottingham Forest U23. Oscar Woods played a full game for Burnley U18 in their 1-0 win over Bristol City U18. Jacob Young was an unused sub for Sunderland U23 as they drew 0-0 with Middlesborough U23. Con Ouzinidis was absent from Everton U23's squad that lost 4-3 to Manchester City U23. 

EUROPE 

There was big news in the German Bundesliga for George Timotheou in his maiden appearance in the first team as an unused sub for FC Schalke in their 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt. 

Mat Leckie was back in the starting lineup playing 78 minutes for Hertha Berlin as they lost 2-1 to Fortuna Dusseldorf. Robbie Kruse was absent from Vfl Bochum's squad that lost 2-1 to Jahn Regensburg. 

Brandon Borrello played a full game for Freiburg II in their 2-0 win over SV Elversberg. Christian Theoharous was an unused sub as Borussia Mönchengladbach II SV Lippstadt. Jamie Percevski was an unused sub for Fortuna Dusseldorf U19 as they defeated Bonner SC 3-2. 

In Denmark Awer Mabil played 30 minutes off the bench for Midtjylland in a 2-2 draw with Esbjerg. Mustafa Amini scored a beautiful side footed finish for AGF in their 3-0 away win over Horsens. In the Netherlands Aziz Behich and Trent Sainsbury were on the bench for PSV while Dean Bouzanis and Denis Genreau were also unused for PEC Zwolle as PSV won 4-0. Alex Gersbach was absent for both NAC Breda's 2-1 win over Excelsior and 1-0 loss to Heracles Almelo. Ajdin Hrustic was absent from FC Groningen's squad 1-0 win over De Grafschaap and 1-0 loss to Exelsior.

In Austria Jimmy Jeggo played a full match for Austria Wien in their 1-0 loss to his former side Sturz Graz. James Holland played a full 90 for LASK in a 2-0 loss to Red Bull Salzburg. 

In Belgium Danny Vukovic played a full match for KRC Genk in a 2-1 win over Gent. 

In Poland Jake McGing played a full game for Wisla Plock as his side lost 1-0 to Piast Gliwice. 

In Cyprys Apostolos Giannou scored for AEK Larnaca in a 2-0 win over AC Omonia. 

In Croatia Fran Karacic played a full match for NK Lokomotiva in a 2-0 win over NK Gorica. Later in the week Karacic played another full game as his side lost 3-2 to Inter Zapresic for whom Steven Lustica was an unused sub. Anthony Kalik was absent from Hajduk Split's squad that lost 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb. 

In Greece Panos Armenakas was an unused sub for Panathinaikos as they defeated Aris Thessaloniki 2-0. Peter Makrillos was absent from Panionios' squad that defeated Larissa 1-0. 

In Israel Nikita Rukavytsya played a full game and scored for Maccabi Haifa as his side lost 3-1 to Maccabi Hadera. 

Sebastian Pasquali was an unused sub for Jong Ajax as they defeated Helmond Sport 3-1. Daniel Bouman played a full game for Jong Groningen as they played Ajax Amateurs. Dylan Ryan was absent while Luca Da Silva was an unused sub for Willem II U21 as they drew 0-0 with NEC U21.

In Japan Ange Postecoglou's Yokohama F Marinos recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Urawa Red Diamonds for whom Andrew Nabbout was absent. Mitch Langerak's Nagoya Grampus fell to Kashima Antlers 2-1 with the goalkeeper playing a full game. Jason Geria played a full game for JEF United Chiba in a 1-0 loss to Kanazawa. 

In Korea Aleksander Jovanovic was a second half substitute for Jeju United in their 1-1 draw with Seongnam and later in the week played a full match in his sides 1-1 draw with Pohang Steelers. Adam Taggart played a full game for Suwon Bluewings in a 0-0 draw with Sangju while later in the week Taggart started and played 67 minutes in a 2-0 win over Gangwon. 

In Saudi Arabia Brad Jones kept a clean sheet in Al Nassr's 5-0 win over Al Raed. Milos Degenek was absent from Al Hilal's 3-2 victory over Al Hazm. Rhys Williams scored while Jack Duncan played in goals for Al Qadisiyah in their 4-2 win over Ohod.

In the MLS Brad Smith played a full game for Seattle Sounders in their 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake.
