THE green and gold emerged victorious against England in a charity match over the weekend, winning 4-2 on a sweltering Sydney afternoon.
The game was in aid of David Oswell's journey to an orphanage in Ghana to perform some voluntary football coaching and fund some football equipment for the children.
Australia were be led by former Socceroos captain Paul Wade, while former Manchester City, Leicester and Norwich defender Spencer Prior was the English captain.
Despite leading 2-1 at half-time, England crumbled during the second half as they fell short in the heat and conceded three without reply. Wade also rolled back the years with a classy assist for Australia's first.
$3000 has been raised so far and one item is still up for grabs. A Liverpool shirt signed by Gerrard and Torres is now in the country and available for bids! Contact David Oswell on oswell1@hotmail.com or 0421 977706 for further details.
