The Socceroos are set to take on another football heavyweight prior to the 2014 World Cup after confirming an October 11 date with Les Bleus at Parc des Princes in Paris.
Socceroos coach Holger Osieck using the friendly as valuable practice ahead of next year's World Cup in Brazil.
"We need to play top quality international opponents as we have to get challenged on this level," said Osieck.
"This will be another great experience for our team and myself, as it gives me a good indication where we stand right now compared to the top countries in the world and what our focus has to be to raise our standard."
France are currently ranked 23rd in the FIFA world rankings, but are sure to give the 46th-ranked Socceroos a tough time given they have quality players in the ilk of Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery, Real Madrid star Karim Benzema and Manchester United's Patrice Evra.
It will be the second glamour friendly the Socceroos will play in 2013, following their match against Brazil on September 7.
This will be the fourth match between France and Australia at senior men’s international level and the first on French soil. In the three previous meetings there has been a win for each team and a draw.
The last match between the two nations was back in 2001, when the match ended 1-1 in Melbourne, while earlier in the same calendar year the Socceroos triumphed 1-0 over France in the Confederations Cup.
