It may not kick-off until June 7 but punters are already trying to decide who will be the winners and losers at the prestigious event.

While some may fancy the ice-cool Germans to prevail, Australian football fans don't see beyond Italy at this point.

The Italians are way out in front when it comes to money invested in a potential winner.

Glenn Munsie, TAB Sportsbet media manager said: "They (Italy) have had almost 50 per cent more than the rest.

"Croatia are next at $12 with Greece third at $21."

But for those wanting to put their money on a potential dark horse at Euro 2008, it seems there is a popular choice there too.

Glenn said: "Russia fits into that category. I think people look at the job Guus Hiddink does when in charge of an international side."

Germany are proving a popular side in the betting stakes to win their Euro 2008 group.

TAB Sportsbet is also offering odds on making the final, semi-finalists and quarter-finalists at this stage.
