But the goal came completely against the run of play with a flat Australia side outplayed for almost the entire game by a bright and skillful Bahrain side.

Only poor finishing by Bahrain saved Australia's blushes and allowed them to take the three points in the Socceroos poorest outing since the Asian Cup last year.
