BAHRAIN started their preparations for their forthcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup AFC/OFC qualifiers with a 5-1 win against Togo in an international friendly.
Bahrain, who played the game without the majority of their foreign-based players, opened the scoring on 37 minutes through Abdullah Fatadi after good work by Husain Ali on the right.
It was 2-0 two minutes later when Ismail Abdullatif made his way into the area from the right before netting with a powerful shot before he scored the third goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the area on 56 minutes.
Togo pulled a goal back through substitute Abdoul Haye before Husain Ali Baba made it 4-1 from a spot kick on 88 minutes. Fatadi scored the fifth from another penalty in the second minute of stoppage time.
Bahrain play their second leg match against New Zealand which will be played in Wellington on November 14.
