ROMANIAN-based Aussie Michael Baird admits the prospect of Asian Champions League football is a big factor in a potential switch to Adelaide United.
Former (Queensland) Roar striker Baird is spending a week with the Reds to see if player and club are right for each other.
Baird said the Champions League campaign, which begins in February, was an exciting prospect.
"I will get back to the A-League eventually but coming back and playing in the AFC would be good," he told the Adelaide Advertiser. "After that we could just see what happens again."
Baird believes Romanian football is technically superior to the A-League but there are some things he is still struggling with after three years in the country.
"I can understand everything but I can't speak the language. "It was a culture shock.
"I was quite lucky because there's three other Aussies there (Spase Dilevski, Josh Mitchell and Joshua Rose). Without them, I would have gone mad," he added.
One option for the Reds is also to sign Baird as an A-League injury replacement.
