ADELAIDE United's Fabien Barbiero has been handed a four-match suspension by the A-League's Match Review Panel for an off the ball incident against Perth Glory on Thursday night.
The midfielder was shown a straight red for his challenge on Glory defender Dean Heffernan late in the second half of the clash between Adelaide and Perth last week.
After reviewing the incident, the Match Review Panel deemed Barbiero's action as 'Assault on a Player (eg violent conduct when not challenging for the ball)' and hit him with a four-game ban.
The suspension will rule Barbiero out for the remainder of the A-League season.
