ARGENTINA coach Alfio Basile is not about to walk away from his job despite a dismal World Cup qualifying campaign, according to the president of the nation's football association.
The Albicelestes have failed to win in their last five qualifiers while friendly results have also been disappointing.
Fans have begun to express their concern about the performances of the national team, but AFA supremo Julio Grondona insists Basile will not hand in his resignation.
"If Argentina lose the next match, Basile will not quit," Grondona told Radio 10.
"The national team are taking part in a tournament that is becoming more and more competitive. Nothing is easy in World Cup qualifiers.
"Coco (Basile) has not talked about resigning at all. People are confused. The coach has not got a magic wand which can show the players how to kick the ball.
"I like this national team. The players fly 15,000 kilometres to be here. They do not come for money. They do not ask for anything. They do their best for the team so we have to give credit for that."
Argentina host Uruguay in their next qualifier on Saturday before travelling to Chile four days later.
