FourFourTwo and Pro Evolution Soccer join forces for another year of the PES Challenge Cup to mark the launch of PES14.  Last year, Omar Shehabi took the glory, fending off 31 rivals to become victorious in the World Cup style competition.  This year, the tournament is bigger with 64 players pitting their gaming wits against one another.

As with last year, no game play experience is necessary and PES encourages the novice and expert to enter the tournament (most people could beat the FFT team!).  If nothing else, you'll get to spend the evening playing PES14 before anyone else.  We will even throw in beer and pizza to sweeten the deal!

One addition to this season's game is the arrival of the Asian Champions League and with it comes A-League teams for the first time.  Fans of Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers will be able to lead their respective yellow or red to become crowned as the best club team in Asia. Melbourne Victory may also feature, but this has not yet been confirmed.

It’s all part of the excitement leading up to the launch of PES 14 later this year.  Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 marks a new beginning for the popular series, with its brand-new engine giving players a completely new experience.

For more than four years, the PES Productions Team has looked at how football games ebb and flow to develop a new approach to the game and as a result, PES 2014 will use Kojima Production’s renowned Fox Engine at its core. (We’re not sure exactly what that means but if it’s an improvement on what has already been a hugely successful franchise, millions of gamers are going to be happy with the result.)

But it’s not all change for the game that sells millions of units a year. There’s still the exciting intuitive gameplay PES fans know and love, as well as plenty of top teams and tournaments to master.

So get in training and keep those thumbs supple.  The event will be held at the Nerd Café in Sydney on September 4 between 6pm-10.30pm.  Sorry to all out of the Sydney area, but this is the only tournament.
