The fans are licking their lips at the prospect of hosting the current champions with the match vital to both teams' title hopes.

The Gold Coast United Supporters Club are urging the community to turn out in numbers and generate a tremendous atmosphere.

"This is the biggest game of the season (so far) and the atmosphere up here is just electric," GCUSC secretary Terry Hands told au.fourfourtwo.com today. "There is a real sense of anticipation and we're hopeful that it will see the biggest crowd of the season.

"There has been a fair bit about the game on the radio and plenty of talk on forums, Facebook and the like. There's a good vibe."

Melbourne have got the better of Gold Coast in the two meetings so far this season, with memories still fresh of a re-taken Kevin Muscat penalty at Skilled Park.

"Kevin Muscat wouldn't have the reaction he gets any other way would he?" laughed Hands. "He'll be copping some stick for sure."

Just over 10,000 turned out for the recent crushing of Brisbane Roar and the message from GCUSC is get your tickets early and bring a mate (or two).

"The message is get out and watch what should be a fantastic game. The team have a great chance of finals football in their first season and a top two finish would obviously be a big boost in terms of home ties," he added.

"I'm bringing a couple of Rugby League mates who haven't been before and it'd be great if fans start getting others to come with them and see what it's all about."
