SOCCEROO Michael Beauchamp made his European debut...then was promptly sent off when the ref mistook him for someone else.
The burly defender made his first Champions League group stage appearance with new club Aab against Socceroo team-mate Scott McDonald's Celtic at Parkhead this morning.
But he saw red when a team-mate brought down Shaun Maloney in the penalty area and the ref blamed him by mistake instead of Michael Jakobsen who committed the foul.
Celtic Barry Robson missed the penalty - but Beauchamp had to watch the rest of the game from the dressing room.
Now his club are set to appeal the dismisal to get the red card and subsequent ban overturned.
Manager Bruce Rioch said after the game: "I think the wrong player has been sent off.
"The officials weren't clear and Michael is upset, because he wasn't involved.
"I'm not so bothered about the penalty, but we'll question the sending off."
