Berisha said his winning strike against Adelaide United in the elimination final on Sunday night will go down as his all-time favourite goal.

Victory found themselves trailing after Nikola Mileusnic opened the scoring before the hour mark, but was cancelled out by Leroy George seven minutes later.

Berisha then acrobatically scored the winner to send over 15,000 fans jumping out of their seats at AAMI Park.

“It’s a great goal, but not like Ronaldo… It was much better,” Berisha joked.

“It was something I did to be really honest in training after the Asian Champions League (ACL) on Thursday.

“The players who didn’t play had to train. I did this and I scored in training. It’s very interesting because I heard Ronaldo did the same, so I have to do this a little bit more because whatever you do in training happens in the game.

“I’m just really happy, I wanted to score whichever way possible because the boys had a tough season, after 1-0 down, it was really good to come back.”

Berisha was now looking forward to next week’s clash against Sydney FC.

The Kosovan has copped his fair share of criticism this season, but was not letting it get to him.

“My confidence is really high, as a footballer, I don’t take anything for granted,” he said.

“You go through tough times, but I’ve been through worse moments. This is something I learned from experience and for me, every game is a new opportunity and this is how I see it.

“This is the game, up and downs will always be, we’re not happy with how the season ended up. Now it’s about the finals, it’s so important for the Australian game, so I want to be a part of this.

“This is why I’m so motivated, I love finals, you know that, this is something I don’t take for granted, so I want to make sure I’m there.”
