Blacktown City's massive two weeks of knockout football begins on Sunday when they take on Sydney United in the NSW NPL Grand Final, followed by an FFA Cup Quarter Final cagainst Sydney FC just 10 days later.

Crittenden said he had no doubt his players would be up for the first challenge of Sunday’s title decider at Leichhardt Oval.

“Finals footy and the FFA Cup is what’s all about,” he said. “You always want to be a big part of the dance. It doesn’t take too much motivation for players of this calibre to be up for these big games, they do that themselves.

“Our job is to make sure that their bodies are right and try and keep some shape and some structure. They will rise to the occasion there is no question about that.”

And while his side's deadly duo of Danny Choi and Patrick Antelmi up front will play a leading role in the outcome, Crtittenden believes defence is key to victory.

“People keep talking about our front third but the key for mine is defensively,” he said.

“As long as we are organised defensively from the front back we’ll be ok. They are a very good attacking side and whilst I believe we can score goals, it’s important that we don’t concede any.

“I’m not going to say we are overly confident but we believe in our ability to get the job done and if we play to our strengths then we’ll walk away with the result.”

Blacktown City have got the cholcolates in the past two clashes between the sides with wins in the FFA Cup and  in the recent NPL Semi-Final.

But Crittenden said both results were pointless with Sydney United’s consistency giving them the ascendancy in the decider.

“As far as I’m concerned they should be the favourites,” he said. "They won the league by over half a dozen points. Obviously it’s been great that we have beaten them but at the end of the day it’s a different kettle of fish. It’s a one off game and the winner gets the spoils and the loser doesn’t.

"They are a very good side and they’ve been the most consistent side all year. Going forward young Chris Payne and Panny Nikas are very good around the edges of the box, they are very dangerous in that part of the area and they have a very good left back too who gets forward and gets some nice crosses in.

"They are very mobile in the middle of the park, but probably Payne and Nikas are the two boys that we are going to have to keep quiet.”
