Pablo Mouche, Sebastian Battaglia and Lucas Viatri admitted to au.fourfourtwo.com they were coming to Australia for the first time.

But despite knowing little about football Down Under, the result and performance against Victory was a priority.

"Even though it is only a friendly with Melbourne Victory, we still aim to win. Personally, I will take the match very seriously as usual, in my Boca shirt," the 22-year-old Mouche said.

Centre forward Viatri feels his team should record a win on Friday night as preparations build for the upcoming season.

"I think we should win. We are working really hard on our pre-season and we are building up a really strong team," he said.

The experienced Battaglia was more withdrawn in his predictions.

The 29-year-old said the result was not the most important factor, but his side would be trying to win.

"I definitely hope we will do well. This is a great preparation for us before the Argentine league begins," Battaglia said.

An added incentive of trying to ensure he has a place in the first team when the season starts is also on Battaglia's mind.

"I am looking forward to get a position in the first team for this season so I will take the match very seriously, as I always do whenever I am in my Boca shirt."

The players admitted they knew little about the A-League, but memories of the 1993 World Cup qualifier against Australia, which Argentina won 2-1 on aggregate, were relived.

"I don't know much [about the A-League], but I remember the 1993 World Cup Qualifier with Argentina - it was a close game and it showed that Australian football is not to be underestimated," Battaglia said.

He added current Socceroos assistant coach Aurelio Vidmar, who scored Australia's only goal in the qualifier, was perhaps the most well known player in the South American nation.

Aurelio's brother, Tony, was Mouche's nomination.

Viatri reeled off more recent names including current star Tim Cahill, former captain Mark Viduka and Galatasaray star Harry Kewell, who he said was his favourite Liverpool player on the Playstation.

He revealed he had never seen an A-League game because it was not shown in Argentina, but knew Australian football was on the rise.

He added: "I know that Australian football is getting much stronger lately. The national team played at a very decent level in the World Cup in South Africa."
