AUSSIES ABROAD: Eddy Bosnar scored an extra-time goal to help Shimizu S-Pulse progress in Japan's Emperor's Cup on Saturday afternoon knocking out Montedio Yamagata.
Bosnar scored after 109 minutes to force a 1-1 draw in the quarter-final tie, resulting in a dramatic penalty shootout which Shimizu won 5-4.
Tashiro Yuuzou had put Montedio ahead after 107 minutes, but barely two minutes later the Australian responded for the crucial leveller.
Bosnar played the full 120 minutes in the contest.
Shimizu next face Gamba Osaka in the semi-finals.
Elsewhere, Socceroo Matthew Spiranovic was not in the Urawa matchday squad despite recently returning from injury, as Gamba knocked out the Reds 2-1 after extra-time.
Meanwhile, Joshua Kennedy's Nagoya Grampus also bowed out after a 2-1 loss to Kashima Antlers.
Kennedy was not involved as he's back in Australia receiving treatment on a back problem.
