The national governing body is expected to decide on the club’s future at a board meeting on Thursday. Meanwhile tomorrow night, the club has arranged an All-Star game to farewell retiring Fury star Ufuk Talay.

With a star-studded line-up, Bosnich will sit in the dugout just months after a plan to coach Fury on a one-off basis for an A-League game was scuppered.

“You can call me gaffer,” Bosnich told au.fourfourtwo.com with his trademark laugh."All I can promise is the boys will go out and enjoy themselves and have a wonderful night.

“But as a player at heart always the most important thing is not to get injured and to play the game in the right spirit. And I’ll be making sure that point is put across.

“And it’s great that we’re starting to recognise our players who’ve given so much service. We saw that with John Aloisi and Joe Skoko and it’s nice that Ufuk will get the same opportunity.”

With Fury unable to play their last final match of the season at home due to cyclone Yasi,  Fury management decided to arrange a charity match to enable the Fury faithful to give Talay the send-off his 18-year professional career deserves and to allow both parties - the club and its supporters - to finish the season off in style.

The match to be played at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville, will feature an All Stars XI coached by Frank Farina and an Ufuk Talay (Fury) XI under the guidance of Bosnich.

However while the game is a celebration of a player's career, the over-riding emotion will be about the future of North Queensland.

"I’m trying to lend my support as much as I can in the hope we can help North Queensland stay in the league," added Bosnich.

“Any time you’re talking about a team not able to continue in any sporting league is always a crucial decision – don’t underestimate that. But I think the league is strong and if the worst was to happen and North Queensland wasn’t to continue that we will survive it.

“But from my heart I dearly hope a way, or a compromise, can be found for them to stay in the league because I do believe they add to the league. So get down there and support Fury and support them staying in the league."

He added: “But if it doesn’t happen we must move on and be stronger.”
