Mark Bosnich will join the Fury’s Head of Football Operations, Robbie Middleby, on the bench for Wednesday’s fixture in the absence of Franz Straka and Stuart McLaren.

“When Fury asked if I would be interested in helping out the club next week, ahead of and during the Newcastle match, I jumped at the chance," Bosnich said.

“I’m a big fan of the Fury, particularly the enterprising style of football they play and the exciting talent they have throughout the squad.

“I have huge respect for Franz Straka and what he has achieved under challenging circumstances this season and I consider it an honour to be asked to help train his team next week.”

The FFA confirmed Straka's one match ban this afternoon and phone lines ran hot as the club lined up the guest coach deal with Bosnich.

It’s naturally disappointing not to have Franz or Stuart available for this match but to have the experience of both Robbie (Middleby) and Mark Bosnich around the squad will be invaluable," said North Queensland Fury CEO Rabieh Krayem.

“We knew this scenario could be a possibility, so Robbie (Middleby) has been speaking to Mark for some time about helping train the squad in the lead-up to this important match against Newcastle.

"Mark has played football at the highest level and now as a member of the Fox Sports commentary team, he knows the A-League extremely well.

“This really is exciting news for Fury, and to have someone of Mark Bosnich’s stature associated with the club in the coming week will be a great thing for both the players and supporters.”
