With Fury head coach Franz Straka and his assistant Stuart McLaren serving touchline suspensions following a recent heated visit to Central Coast, the pair will be missing from the bench when Fury face the Jets at Energy Australia stadium on Wednesday night.

In their place, Bosnich will swap his pundit role at Fox Sports and join Fury Head of Football Operations Robbie Middleby for the A-League clash.

It’s been a headline grabbing move by Fury and one club CEO Rabieh Krayem hinted could continue in some capacity in the future.

“It depends on whether we win or lose [on Wednesday night],” Krayem told a.fourfourtwo.com. “For us, it’s really started a relationship with Mark and where it goes to we never know.”

The Fury boss said the former Manchester United and Chelsea shot-stopper was the perfect fit for the club and hopes the move sends the right message out about the club’s future, which has come under recent speculation.

“The key to the whole Bosnich scenario is that he’s been a very passionate advocate of the team and the club. It’s been something that has received a lot of positive attention here in Townsville," said Krayem.

"So for us when we wanted to have someone on the bench with the team it was easy for us to nominate Mark Bosnich. Obviously we spoke to the players about it.

"They’re very supportive and agree with the passion he has and what he can bring to the club. And the coaches agree with it. So we’re looking for that extra bit of motivation for Wednesday night."

Fury will train behind closed doors the day before the game with Bosnich meeting the playing group for the first time on Tuesday in Newcastle.

A win for Bosnich will potentially push Fury into the top six. They then play a Queensland derby with Gold Coast on Sunday in Townsville.

Krayem added: “We know this will be a very big game in Newcastle and Mark will have his own motivation to hopefully get a result for Fury.”
