Bosnich - who went from the peak of playing for Manchester United and Chelsea to virtual obscurity after a drug scandal - turned up at least 20kg overweight when he joined Queens Park Rangers for pre-season camp in July.

But he's now battling back to fitness, according to Aussie QPR team mate Nick Ward - and has shed the excess weight back to a relatively trim 100kg

au.fourfourtwo.com yesterday exclusively revealed how Bosnich is now trying to get back into his football and turned up between the sticks for QPR in a reserves match.

Now Ward has revealed Bozza is making good progress.

"He's going really well. He's got it together and he's pretty keen on playing again," Ward told Sydney's Daily Telegraph.

"He wants to do it for himself as much as anything. But even if he doesn't play, he's fit and healthy and stable, which is the main thing."

He added: "I remember his first day at training, we were running and he couldn't do it - he was walking. He was probably 120kg when he started and now he's probably about 100kg.

"He was massive when he came in but he's been training his arse off and he's still got it. Now he's running around no problems and he's really flying."

Despite being out the game for years following his drug scandal while at Chelsea, followed by a stormy coke-fueled affair with model Sophie Anderton, Bosnich still hasn't lost his touch in goal.

"He's still got that shot-stopping ability and his positioning is great," Ward told the newspaper.

"It was his first game in four years and he did well, kept a clean sheet and made some good saves. He's got a lot of offers to do TV and coaching - I'm sure he could coach."
