The 33-year-old Scottish midfielder, who joined Victory in 2006 and has since made over 100 appearances for the club, claimed the honour with 31 votes, ahead of Socceroo Robbie Kruse (27 votes) and defender Rody Vargas (16 votes).

Melbourne Victory football operations manager Gary Cole was full of praise for Brebner, who played 25 of the club's 31 A-League matches this season.

"Without doubt, Grant had his best season yet for Melbourne Victory," Cole said.

"When he arrived in season two we felt he was going to be a great asset to the squad, but never did we think he’d still be here five years later and playing some of the best football of his career.

“The consistency of his performances make him a worthy winner of the Victory Medal.”

Meanwhile, Kruse didn't go home empty-handed, claiming three awards on the night.

The 22-year-old striker, who has been linked with a move to Germany, won the Players' Player of the Year, TAC Young Player of the Year and Golden Boot.

Another youngster, 21-year-old Diogo Ferreira also went home a winner claiming the Clubman of the Year award.

Matthew Foschini and Kendall Fletcher won the Victory Youth and Victory Women Medals respectively.

Ella Mastrantonio and Stephanie Catley were joint-winners of the Women Players' Player of the Year, while Catley also claimed the Clear Solar Young Player of the Year.
