Palermo president Maurizio Zamporini claims the 30-year-old Australian midfielder, who spent the past four years with the Sicilian outfit making over 100 appearances, has secured a deal with the Roman giants.

"Bresciano is a Lazio player," Zamparini revealed to lalaziosiamonoi.it.

The Socceroo, who had few first-team opportunities in his final months at the Renzo Barbera, leaves Palermo on a free transfer but Zamparini holds no grudges.

The Palermo president added: "The player called to inform me of his choice. He said he will play in Rome.

"Lazio is a great team and I'm happy for him. I am sure he will do well."

The Roman outfit, who are coached by Edy Reja, last won the Scudetto in 2000 and the Coppa Italia in 2009, although last term they battled to avoid relegation in Serie A finishing 12th.

Bresciano had also been linked with fellow Italian clubs Sampdoria and Brescia this close season, along with a move to Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nasr which he denied.
