The 28-year-old has returned to Brisbane with his young family after parting company with Ricki Herbert’s side midway through his two-year deal at Westpac Stadium.

It is thought the striker had been on the radar of the Gold Coast Galaxy but that is no longer an option for the forward who spent last season with English third tier club Swindon Town.

Brownlie, who came so close to a winner in the Phoenix’s first ever A-League game, has now joined Redcliffe-based Power where he is expected to combine playing with another role in the construction industry.

He is expected to make his debut for the club this weekend against Mount Gravatt.

Coach Terry Kirkham told the club’s official website: “We signed Royce on Tuesday night and if his clearance comes through in time we’ll play him against Mt Gravatt on Saturday night.

“It’s great to have a player like Royce join us. Royce will bring even more professionalism to the team and will be a wonderful role model for some of our young developing players.

“Royce has a lot of experience and will be a big asset for us. We’ve lost an absolute quality player in Drew Laurence through a medical condition but Royce will help compensate.”

Under Kirkham this season, Peninsula Power remain unbeaten after drawing its first game against Taringa Rovers before taking maximum points in a 4-3 thriller against Pine Rivers last weekend.

Kirkham said: “We’re fit and organised this season. We’ve conceded a few goals but to be honest they were all quality goals.

“We’re looking forward to the Mt. Gravatt game and we’re just hoping now that Royce’s clearance will come through in time.”
