Eto'o completed his brace in the 82nd minute with a thumping shot from the edge of the penalty area to complete Cameroon's victory against their West African rivals and take them to the top of CAF's World Cup qualifying Group I.

For Togo, Saturday's defeat leaves them bottom of Group I with just one point halfway through the second round of African World Cup qualifying and in grave danger of missing out on Brazil 2014.

Togo's star player Emmanuel Adebayor did not get on the pitch in Yaounde after the Tottenham striker failed to attend his team's final training session before the World Cup qualifier.

Cameroon had the better of the first half and deservedly took the lead in the 42nd minute thanks to a penalty from Eto'o.

Leonard Kweuke was pushed over in the penalty area after being put through on goal by Achille Emana and Eto'o placed his spot kick in the bottom-left corner with Togo goalkeeper Baba Tchagouni heading the wrong way.

But Cameroon's lead did not last long as Togo equalised in first-half stoppage time through Dove Wome.

Togo were denied a valuable point away from home, however, when Eto'o picked up the ball on the left-hand side of the penalty area, jinked past his opponent and then blasted the ball over Tchagouni and into the far side of the goal.

Cameroon lead Group I with six points from three games, while Togo face a tough task to overhaul their fellow West Africans and top the group to qualify for the final round of CAF World Cup qualifying.

In Group J, Angola came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw away to Senegal in a top-of-the-table clash.

Moussa Sow gave Senegal the lead with a cracking free-kick just before the break in Conakry but the hosts missed out on three points when Amaro's deflected strike hit the back of the net with 15 minutes remaining.

The draw sees Senegal remain top of Group J with five points, while Angola (three points) are second.

Tunisia continued their 100 percent record in Group B with a 2-1 victory over Sierra Leone, while Congo did the same with a 1-0 triumph against Gabon.

In other CAF World Cup qualifying results, Malawi won 1-0 away to Namibia, Burkino Faso thumped Niger 4-0, South Africa defeated Central African Republic 2-0, Nigeria drew 1-1 with Kenya and Ivory Coast overcame Gambia 3-0.
