Cahill is currently in Chicago after linking up with the squad for the two-game tour of the United States of America.

His foot injury will prevent him from playing any part in fixtures against Chicago Fire and Colorado Rapids but he is delighted just to be back in the first team set up.

He told evertonfc.com: "The atmosphere in the camp is brilliant. It’s always a buzz for the lads to get back together, especially after a long time.”

The 28-year-old spent much of the close season in Australia after undergoing surgery Down Under and Everton are delighted with his recovery.

Assistant boss Steve Round told BBC Sport: "He is running and everything seems on the right track, so we are looking to have him fit for 16 August."
