Socceroo Tim Cahill has been training with Sydney FC barely a fortnight after leaving Melbourne City.
The Daily Telegraph reports Sky Blues coach Graham Arnold is doing Cahill a favour as the 38-year-old tries to keep fit as he searches for a new club.
Cahill left City in search of more game time ahead of next year’s World Cup, but it is unlikely Sydney FC would entertain signing him, or even need him for that matter.
But Cahill’s presence on the Allianz Stadium pitch does raise some questions, especially with Arnold touted as a favourite to take over Ange Postecoglou’s former post as Socceroos mentor.
Cahill has been linked to several clubs, including Turkish outfit Karabukspor.
However, the sacking of former Wanderers manager Tony Popovic has likely dashed any hope of him being thrown a lifeline.
And so Cahill’s quest for a new club continues, as the Socceroo attempts to claim a berth at a fourth World Cup.
