MELBOURNE Victory's Billy Celeski is said to be fine after appearing to suffer a serious injury to the same knee he had reconstructed 12 months ago at training this morning.
The midfielder, who helped Victory to the 2008/09 A-League Premiership-Championship double, went to change direction late in today's training session at Olympic Park and screamed in agony as he immediately fell to the ground.
Training was called to a halt and the 25-year-old got up and limped from the field after again hurting his left knee which he had reconstructed in September last year after landing awkwardly early in the Round 5 clash with Newcastle at Etihad Stadium.
Having returned to the field in the pre-season, Celeski played in both Victory's first two matches, scoring a goal in the 3-3 draw with Sydney FC in the grand final rematch and also playing in last weekend's 2-0 loss to Perth Glory.
And while fellow midfielder Carlos Hernandez was cleared of a serious injury to his right knee, suffered in the AAMI Park defeat to Glory, the Costa Rican sat out the session on Tuesday putting in doubt his chances of playing against North Queensland Fury on Sunday.
Victory already have both Matthew Kemp and Archie Thompson recovering from ACL problems.
Kemp was injured in early February against Fury at Etihad Stadium while Thompson received his injury in the grand final in March when he charged into the box early in the game and clashed knees with now Heart skipper Simon Colosimo.
However this afternoon Celeski's team-mates Adrian Leijer and Matt Foschini both went on Twitter to reassure fans.
"Billy is fine, was scary to watch but it seems all is good!! Thank god!" tweeted Liejer.
Foschini added: "Billy is fine...nothing to worry about."
