Real Madrid captain Raul insists his side were full value for their Primera Liga title win, describing them as "the best team in this league by some distance".
Raul was able to celebrate his sixth league crown with Madrid on Sunday after helping the league leaders claim a remarkable comeback victory over Osasuna in Pamplona.
With second-placed Villarreal winning at home to Getafe earlier in the evening, Madrid needed to pick up a victory over relegation-threatened Osasuna to retain the title.
Madrid looked to have lost their chance of winning the league this weekend though after losing defender Fabio Cannavaro to a 46th-minute red card at the Reyno de Navarra and then going a goal down to Osasuna late on in the second half.
But with just three minutes left on the clock Madrid turned the game on it's head to claim a 2-1 win with goals from Arjen Robben and Gonzalo Higuain, and in the process secure their 31st league crown.
"It`s not easy at all to win two in a row. It wasn't easy, we were a man down and up against a team who have a lot to play for, but we kept fighting and produced a great comeback," said Raul.
Madrid have not been completely convincing this season, and early exits from the Champions League and Copa del Rey led to plenty of media criticism levelled at the team and new coach Bernd Schuster.
However, they have still been better than all their rivals, and their record at having won away games against Barcelona, Valencia, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid, Racing Santander and Athletic Bilbao is hugely impressive.
"We have won in the most difficult grounds in the country and Real Madrid have been the best team in this league by some distance," added Raul.
"We have a great group here, and with a new set of players and new coach, the performance has been positive."
The Madrid players` next port of call after leaving Pamplona will be the Cibeles fountain in the middle of the Spanish capital, where the club traditionally celebrates its league titles.
Madrid president Ramon Calderon insisted he would be leaving the partying to the players, but he did reiterate his backing for coach Schuster.
"I think a lot of Schuster. I've already said that whether we won the league or not he was going to continue at the head of the team. Now he has to go further. This is a young team and needs to improve, like wine," said Calderon.
Looking ahead to next season, Calderon added: "The Champions League? It is very difficult, but when you start the season this team has to aspire to win everything. It is very difficult to win a league, as it is to win two."
