Chiellini, who is set to be included in Marcello Lippi´s final 23-man party due to be named this evening, had been out of action with the injury for the past month.
Chiellini trained for an hour this morning with the rest of his team-mates and should be available to play in Thursday´s friendly against Mexico in Brussels.
Italy then take on Switzerland in Geneva on Saturday before travelling to South Africa.
The Azzurri were drawn in Group F alongside Paraguay, New Zealand and Slovakia.
