EXCLUSIVE: Striker Bruce Djite is set to put pen to paper with Adelaide United three years after leaving the club for Turkish football.
au.fourfourtwo.com understands the Gold Coast United striker is set for a sensational return to Hindmarsh after leaving the South Australian club in 2008 for European football with Genclerbirligi.
But th new Adelaide United striker Bruce Djite is today believed to be in China arranging a loan spell with Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Sainty before joining up with the Reds.
The Gold Coast striker has signed with Adelaide United on a two-year deal.
The move is said to be very lucrative and some insiders say it's almost double what he was offered by Gold Coast United, who he joined in September last year after a frustrating couple of years in Turkey.
It’s believed Djite's planned Chinese loan is part of the deal to bring the Socceroo back to Hindmarsh giving him vital game time ahead of the October kick-off to the new A-League season.
In China, Djite will have an Australian teammate after Mariners skipper Alex Wilkinson signed an off-season deal with the same club in recent days.
In other news, Melbourne Heart’s young defender Michael Marrone is in the UK on trial.
Djite's move to Adelaide is another blow for Gold Coast who have lost a number of key players in the off-season including Djite’s strike partner Shane Smeltz.
The Rini Coolen clearout at Adelaide has already seen foundation player Travis Dodd exit for Perth and the axing of the Dutch coach’s number two Phil Stubbins.
It’s understood that Reds midfielder Adam Hughes has also been released.
